Gillingham remain in relegation danger after a crushing defeat at Brentford.
The Bees were soon ahead after keeper Alan Julian felled Charlie MacDonald in the box and he converted the spot-kick.
He notched another penalty after Toumani Diagouraga was clipped by Mark Bentley and Myles Weston made it three at the near post after a surging run.
Weston sealed it with a strong run and shot while James Walker fired over from three yards for the visitors after Wajciech Szczesny tipped onto the bar.
Brentford boss Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9:
"I'm delighted. We were thoroughly professional and exploited their weaknesses.
"I'm delighted with the win, delighted with getting into plus figures in goal difference and delighted with the clean sheet."
Mark Stimson told BBC Radio Kent:
"They are a side who asked questions of your defence and unfortunately today, the defenders didn't come up with the right answers.
"There were a few words said at half time about keeping the ball up the pitch.
"The fourth goal summed it up, it hits the post, hit the goalkeeper on the back and went in."
