Steve Morison's last-minute winner grabbed victory for Millwall and denied MK Dons a point after they had staged an impressive second-half fightback.
Andy Frampton's header put Millwall ahead before Chris Hackett slotted home a parried Danny Schofield effort to double their lead.
Jermaine Easter netted from Martin Devaney's through-ball before slamming in a 25-yard drive to equalise.
But Morison had the last word, finding space in the box to fire in the winner.
MK Dons' assistant manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"Sometimes it just isn't good enough and tonight that was the case. The way they conducted themselves in the first-half was not acceptable for a Milton Keynes Dons side.
"But give them credit as well. They came out in the second-half and almost looked like a different team.
"We have to stand up and be counted as some stage and stop making these silly errors."
