Lee Barnard scored a late penalty as Southend came from behind to beat MK Dons and celebrate Steve Tilson's sixth anniversary as manager in style.
The visitors took a deserved lead early on when Sam Baldock drilled a low shot past home goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall.
But the hosts responded when striker Aaron Wilbraham dismally headed into his own net when attempting to clear.
Dean Lewington was penalised for a foul on Francis Laurent late on, and Barnard stepped up to seal a dramatic win.
Southend United manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex:
"It was a great time to score. There was a lot of pressure on Barney (Lee Barnard) with that penalty, but it was fantastic.
"If we'd got a point tonight I'd have been pleased but to get three is a big lift for everyone.
"I thought just for effort and desire we deserved to win tonight. We were up against a very good side."
