A late penalty from Kevin O'Connor gave Brentford a dramatic win over Southend.
The Bees midfielder struck his spot-kick with almost the last kick of the game after Marcus Bean had been brought down by Franck Moussa.
O'Connor had also earlier equalised with a penalty for the home side after Myles Weston was bundled over as he ran through on goal.
Southend's opener came when keeper Nikki Bull stepped over the goal-line in catching a Simon Francis free-kick.
Southend United manager Steve Tilson told BBC Essex:
"The second one was never a penalty in a million years - Franck's won the ball.
"To come away 1-1 would have been a decent result, but probably we should have won 1-0.
"For the first penalty he was going nowhere, so we've pressed the self-destruct button I'm afraid."
