Temitope Obadeyi's goal in first-half injury time earned Swindon a draw with fellow promotion-chasers Colchester.
Ashley Vincent scored the opener for Colchester after 21 minutes, lifting the ball over Swindon keeper Phil Smith and being injured in the process.
Swindon's response came on the counter-attack, Obadeyi firing home from an exquisite Ben Hutchinson through ball.
Alex Revell could have won the game for the Robins after the break with a shot that cannoned back off the U's bar.
