Colchester   2 - 1   Yeovil

Colchester followed up their opening day 7-1 demolition of Norwich with a deserved victory at home to Yeovil.

It took the U's just nine minutes to take the lead as David Fox netted from the edge of the area after Ashley Vincent's effort was blocked.

Simon Hackney crossed for Vincent to head in the second, while Kevin Lisbie almost made it 3-0 but his touch let him down when through on goal.

Yeovil pulled one back thanks to Ryan Mason's fine curling free-kick.

Colchester manager Paul Lambert told BBC Essex:

"I'm not giving the officials any credence. I'm bewildered why the referee refereed the game.

"We started the game brilliantly, we got two terrific goals and then it could have been more.

"The most important people at the club are the players and the fans and they were terrific again."
