MK Dons finished 11 points clear of Scunthorpe in the league
MK Dons came from behind to secure a deserved draw with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final.
Scunthorpe took a 13th-minute lead when Martyn Woolford cleverly adjusted his feet to volley home after Willy Gueret could only parry a Paul Hayes shot.
But just before the half-hour Aaron Wilbraham showed equally quick thinking to nod in from an acute angle.
After the break a Wilbraham backheel set up Mark Wright, but he blazed over.
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins: "We're in the tie, that's what we wanted to do.
"They know that we've beaten them already this season with a really good performance so they know we can go down there and get a good result.
"It's a one-off game at their place now. We know we can win, they believe they can. It's going to be exciting."
MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo:
"I think it was a very exciting game. We always go out and try to win and the whole team had a good game.
"Maybe one or two players didn't play as well as they can but generally we did pretty well.
"We told them 'it's over 180 minutes, let's play our game and stick to our game plan' and that's what we did."
