Porter took his season tally to 15 with two fine finishes

Two goals from top scorer Joel Porter helped Hartlepool overcome Northampton in Friday's League One match.

Porter scored the opener after just five minutes, slotting home from just inside the area after some neat build-up play with Michael Mackay.

Pools doubled the lead after the break with Porter finishing well after Andy Monkhouse ended a dazzling run from his own half with a defence-splitting pass.

The Cobbler's best chance fell to Adebayo Akinfenwa who fired just over.
