Cheltenham and Walsall both had their share of good chances but failed to break the deadlock at Whaddon Road.
Cheltenham made a strong start, with Lee Ridley, Josh Payne, Barry Hayles and Elvis Hammond all forcing keeper Clayton Ince into making saves.
Walsall's Michael Ricketts came close for his side when he lobbed a shot against the crossbar.
The Saddlers hit the post again before the break when Troy Deeney saw his shot strike the foot of a post.
