Honours finished even after a keenly fought encounter at Edgar Street.

Steve Guinan had gone close before he put the Bulls in front in the 18th minute, turning in a Lionel Ainsworth cross at the second attempt.

A superb Ainsworth run led to Guinan forcing a low save from Jan Budtz but shortly after the break Dean Beckwith headed into his own net.

Hartlepool were the more positive side from then on but Hereford held firm to snatch a point.
