Cheltenham ended a run of six successive League One defeats as they finished goalless with Southend in a dull affair at Whaddon Road.
It was Southend's first 0-0 draw in 84 league games with Adam Barrett almost grabbing the opener but headed wide.
Ashley Vincent hooked the ball into the net for the Robins on 55 minutes but was denied by an offside flag.
Southend winger Robert Milsom hit the bar and at the other end Lloyd Owusu headed the ball onto the woodwork.
