Peterborough 2-0 Hereford

Craig Mackail-Smith's double gave Peterborough victory over Hereford.

Posh keeper Joe Lewis made a superb save from Dean Beckwith's early header as the visitors made a bright start.

Beckwith was then adjudged to have handled in his own box and Mackail-Smith scored the rebound after Darren Randolph saved his spot-kick.

Hereford kept pressing and Lewis denied Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Toumani Diagouraga before Mackail-Smith headed a second goal from George Boyd's cross.

Hereford manager Graham Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"We've got promotion from the Conference and from the second division on the basis of passing the ball.

"I could see a little bit of apprehension creeping in with the players at one stage, but we've reassured them that we feel that that is the best way of doing it.

"Some of the forward movement today - one move in particular that put Kris Taylor into the box - was absolute top quality and we've got to do more of that."
