Giles Coke and Ryan Gilligan got the goals as Northampton leapfrogged Oldham with a win at Sixfields.

Goalkeeper Mark Crossley made two fine saves, first to deny Adebayo Akinfenwa and from the ensuing corner he did well to keep out a header from Poul Hubertz.

Coke's deflected shot went in after the break and Gilligan increased the lead when he raced clear and volleyed in after Crossley's initial save.

Oldham's only real effort saw Kelvin Lomax foiled by Mark Bunn.
