Roberts' goal was his third of the season

Third-placed Doncaster moved to within two points of an automatic promotion place in League One after a 1-0 win over fourth-placed Nottingham Forest.

Rovers dominated from the start with Jason Price and Brian Stock denied by Forest keeper Paul Smith in the first half, while Paul Heffernan fired over.

Doncaster were finally rewarded after the break when Roberts' low 20-yard free-kick went in off the post.

Substitute Lewis McGugan had earlier missed a great chance for Forest.
