Wayne Gray's solitary strike against 10-man Millwall boosted Leyton Orient's play-off hopes.
John Melligan found the unmarked Gray and the former Wimbledon forward struck for his seventh goal of the season.
Millwall had their chances but once Marc Laird was sent off for a tackle on the impressive Melligan a comeback seemed impossible.
Orient were unfortunate not to double their lead in stoppage time but striker Jabo Ibehre's effort hit the woodwork.
