Hartlepool dealt a blow to the Terriers' fading play-off hopes with a well-merited win. Pools deservedly took the lead after 29 minutes when defender Sam Collins headed in Jamie McKenzie's corner.
Michael Mackay doubled that lead four minutes after the interval, heading in a right-wing cross from Antony Sweeney.
Huddersfield clawed their way back into the game in the 64th minute when Nathan Clarke headed in Chris Brandon's corner but could not find an equaliser.
