Paul Heffernan was on target for the third match in a row as Doncaster kept up their push for promotion by winning at home against Gillingham.
The hosts got off to a perfect start when James Coppinger latched onto a superb through-ball by Richie Wellens, rounded the keeper and slotted home.
They doubled their lead just after the break when Heffernan scored from the spot after Adam Bygrave had handled.
Andrew Crofts' header pulled one back for the Gills but Rovers held on.
