Crewe 0-2 Port Vale

Goals from Paul Harsley and Luke Rodgers earned Port Vale victory and dealt a blow to Crewe's survival hopes.

Crewe almost went ahead when Tom Pope struck a 25-yard volley - but keeper Joe Anyon got a hand to it.

Vale took a 56th-minute lead when Danny O'Donnell tripped Marc Richards and Harsley smashed home the penalty.

Pope saw another chance go begging when his glancing header went inches wide and Rodgers compounded the misery when he bundled home from eight yards.
