Gary Mulligan scored twice as the Gills came from behind to claim only their second away victory of the season. Chris Brandon scored for Huddersfield but Mulligan then slotted home after being set up by Adam Miller's pass.
Mulligan put Gillingham ahead from the penalty spot in the second half after Miller had been tripped by Nat Clarke.
Miller was sent off for a bad foul on Frank Sinclair before former Huddersfield player Delroy Facey romped through and blasted home.
