Bristol Rovers surprised high-flying Tranmere with a goal in each half to secure their third straight league win. Andy Williams fired the Pirates ahead with a neat finish when set up by fellow strike partner Rickie Lambert.
Lambert doubled his side's lead after the break, reacting well to stab the ball home following a long throw-in.
The visitors had chances to add to their tally but David Pipe, Lambert and substitute Craig Disley were all denied by the woodwork.
