Danny Graham scored two of Carlisle's goals as they made a dream start to new manager John Ward's reign. Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's free-kick was headed in by Joe Garner for the opener, and Graham's scuffed shot just before the half-hour mark found the net.
Graham was on target again soon after, this time banging home Joe Anyinsah's low cross from six yards.
Millwall's Dave Brammer hit the post before Bridge-Wilkinson curled a 22-yard free-kick into the top corner.
