Darren Anderton's first goal of the season was not enough for Bournemouth as Northampton shared the points. The ex-England midfielder put the Cherries ahead when Lee Bradbury teed him up to strike a fierce shot past Cobblers keeper Mark Bunn.
Bournemouth felt they should have had a penalty after the break when Bunn appeared to bring down Jo Kuffour.
But the visitors levelled 12 minutes from time through substitute Colin Larkin's 20-yard volley.
