Luke Beckett headed the only goal with Huddersfield's first effort on target against last season's beaten League One play-off finalists Yeovil. Beckett was left unmarked in the six-yard area early in the first half and easily converted Danny Schofield's cross from the left.
Yeovil dominated after the break, but created little themselves.
Marcus Stewart set up Yeovil's best second-half chance with a fine pass to Lloyd Owusu, but his shot was tame.
