James Hayter's injury-time penalty rescued a point for Bournemouth. The Cherries had gone close to opening the scoring when Steven Foley hammered a shot against the crossbar early on.
But Doncaster took the lead when Gareth Roberts and Steve Roberts combined to set up a simple chance for Lewis Guy, who tapped in at the far post.
Only a goal-line clearance stopped James Coppinger making it 2-0 but Steve Roberts' handball gave Bournemouth a spot-kick and Hayter slotted it home.
