Craig Fagan scored one goal and made another as Colchester secured their fifth win in eight matches to climb up to second in the table.

Fagan had already gone close with a 40-yard lob before putting United ahead with a 30-yard chip over Neil Moss.

Fagan then crossed for Gareth Williams to head the second at the back post.

Cherries debutant John Spicer hit the bar before Alan Connell forced Sam Stockley to concede an own goal but substitute Ben May hit United's third.
