Hull set a new club record for unbeaten away league matches after beating Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.
Aaron Mclean scored the only goal of the game when he thumped in Matty Fryatt's pass beyond keeper Keiren Westwood in the first half.
Coventry were unlucky not to score in the second period as Richard Wood and Aron Gunnarsson both had efforts cleared off the line.
But Hull held on to make it 14 games without defeat on their travels.
Coventry, whose manager Aidy Boothroyd is set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Comic Relief, have now won only once in their last 16 Championship matches.
Gunnarsson's long throws gave Hull a few scares early on, but Robert Koren almost put the visitors ahead with a near-post header that glanced wide before Mclean finally broke the deadlock.
Coventry enjoyed a spell of pressure either side of the hour mark as Wood had a header cleared off the line before Gunnarsson's shot from the edge of the box struck a defender a yard in front of the goal.
Wood then had another effort hacked off the line while Mclean was denied at the other end by a fine block from keeper Westwood.
The visitors continued to threaten as the clock ticked town but Anthony Gerrard headed over the crossbar and Fryatt was denied by the keeper.
