Andrew Crofts claimed his seventh and eighth goals of the season as Norwich stay on course for a play-off spot with a convincing win over Barnsley.
Wes Hoolahan had gone close for the visitors before Crofts' header from Marc Tierney's cross beat Luke Steele.
With the Tykes' down to 10 men as Jason Shackell received treatment, Crofts' volley on the turn doubled the lead.
Debutant Marlon Harewood went closest for the hosts, but Crofts almost had a third as he drilled narrowly wide.
Hoolahan looked the likeliest source of a breakthrough for the Canaries early on and the Republic of Ireland international stretched Steele with two well-struck efforts before Crofts' opener.
Goran Lovre's forceful headed effort had demanded a smart stop from John Ruddy in a rare early attack from Barnsley, whose task grew harder when lost Bobby Hassell to injury.
The hosts were in the wars again as Shackell suffered a cut lip in a clash of heads and Norwich took full advantage of their brief numerical superiority.
Hoolahan skipped past a couple of defenders to tee up Crofts, who shaped his body superbly to hit a first-time shot beyond Steele.
Kieran Trippier's centre almost provided Barnsley with a route back into the game and Harewood with his first goal for the club, but the striker, on loan from Blackpool, clipped over the bar.
After Crofts had fired just past the upright, Norwich came close to piling on more misery for the home side when Steele fumbled Grant Holt's snap-shot with ten minutes to go.
Bottom side Preston are next up for Paul Lambert's victorious side, who will be looking at the possibility of pushing up into the two automatic promotion places.
