Coventry ended a run of 10 games without a victory by beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena.
Richard Wood put the Sky Blues into a first-half lead with a backward header past hesitant Palace keeper Julian Speroni from six yards.
Marlon King added a second from close range, turning in Aron Gunnarsson's cross with 11 minutes remaining.
But Steffen Iversen's injury-time strike for Palace from six yards made for a frantic finale.
A finely-balanced encounter came to life around the half hour mark when Anthony Gardner headed Owen Garvan's corner wide for the visitors.
And they were made to pay soon after when Wood nodded Martin Cranie's speculative long ball forward past Speroni.
The Eagles keeper made amends by saving three Clive Platt headers but he could do nothing to stop King registering a fifth league goal of the season.
Iversen's late strike briefly lifted the hopes of the 2,500 or so travelling Palace fans, but they failed to improve on their record of one win and three draws in 15 games away from Selhurst Park this season.
