QPR moved three points clear at the top of the Championship as Jamie Mackie scored twice to help see off Ipswich.
The visitors went close through Matthew Connolly before Mackie slammed in from 12 yards after his shot was blocked.
Heidar Helguson crossed for Mackie to slot his second and after Helguson had fired wide, the Icelander scored from a penalty after Mackie was fouled.
Previously unbeaten Ipswich's best effort on a disappointing night came when Carlos Edwards dragged wide.
QPR are now three points clear of Cardiff, who lost at Leicester, and have scored 17 goals in their six league games so far this season, with Mackie - a summer signing from Plymouth - getting six in six.
Neil Warnock's side were dominant from the outset and Helguson shot straight at Ipswich goalkeeper Marton Fulop in the first minute, before Connolly headed an Adel Taarabt cross over the bar.
Ipswich's leading scorer David Norris fired over as they tried to make their mark, but after Helguson was denied by the fingertips of Fulop, Mackie got the all-important first goal after a Helguson flick-on.
Rangers lost Alejandro Faurlin to injury 10 minutes before half-time but Mackie doubled the lead and when Helguson slammed in from the spot it was game over.
