Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies and Leeds manager Simon Grayson were at odds over a fracas between Chris Gunter and Sanchez Watt in Sunday's 1-1 draw.
Forest's Gunter and Watt of Leeds were both booked, but Leeds boss Grayson said: "I've seen it and [Gunter] is a lucky boy, it's a blatant stamp.
"I don't know how the referee gave two yellow cards, it's a strange decision."
Davies said: "There was a stamp on my keeper Lee Camp before the incident. Gunter was also clearly stamped on."
The Forest boss added: "Gunter should not have got involved and was not as professional as he should have been."
There was one area of agreement between the two managers, however, with both saying Forest should have wrapped the game up during a period of first-half dominance.
Davies said: "The game should have been over and done with after the first 35 minutes. If it had been a boxing match it would have been stopped.
"But then, not through their good play but from our bad play, they have equalised and we have gone in at half-time very disappointed.
"The second half was stop-start and I think we were guilty at times of trying to overplay it.
"We must learn how to handle situations like this against teams who play a certain way. There is a need for us to change our mentality at times.
"Ask John McGovern and the great side he played in here. There were times when they had to win games in a different way."
Grayson was delighted with the manner in which his team withstood Forest's early onslaught and suggested they might have taken all three points in the second half.
He said: "For the first 10 or 15 minutes we were under so much pressure that we had to change things.
"The early goal put us under pressure and we could not cope with what they were throwing at us.
"We know we are going to be on the back foot at times in this division but we dug in and our goal gave us a bit of belief.
"In the end we were the dominant team and there were a lot of encouraging things to come out of today.
"Getting our first point was very important because if we had lost the first two games it would have been difficult for us. Now we can look forward to facing Millwall next weekend."
