Millwall boss Kenny Jackett delighted with 100% start

Jackett is optimistic that Millwal can achieve something special

Millwall's 4-0 victory over Hull left boss Kenny Jackett delighted as their 100% start to the season continued.

Jackett's men are top of the Championship after two wins, which came either side of a Carling Cup first-round victory away at Wycombe.

He said: "It gives us optimism for the future and something to build. I'm very pleased with the players' efforts.

Hull manager Nigel Pearson admitted: "I'm a realist and I know there's a lot of work to be done here."

Millwall ran riot at the New Den with two goals from Steve Morison and further strikes from Kevin Lisbie and Liam Trotter.

"That was a really good performance and I'm really pleased with the start to the season, winning three games in the first week," added Jackett.

"In your first home game you want to give the supporters some optimism for the future and I think we've done that. How we go on from here is another challenge but today was a good day for us and a well-deserved win."

Hull were well beaten on the day and Pearson warned his players that they must improve.

"At any level you need to deal with the threat of the opposition and we were found wanting defensively. I've seen all the goals and there's certain passages of play I'm very disappointed with but its something we'll put right.

"To give yourself a chance of getting anything out of any game then you need to do the basics right and we didn't.

"If there's a hangover from last season then we need to get over that quickly and put it behind us. But the fashion of the defeat was the most disappointing thing for us."
