Luke Varney's 89th-minute winner gave Sheffield Wednesday a vital league win against fellow relegation strugglers Watford.
Eddie Nolan fired low past Scott Loach on 56 minutes for his first-ever goal.
The Owls were only ahead for 10 minutes before Tom Cleverley curled a sublime free-kick into the top corner.
But Varney broke clear late on to smash the vital winner past Loach, moving the Owls above Watford and four points clear of the drop zone.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine on his side's battle against relegation: "I'm still going for three wins. Until we get them I won't relax. We have an awful lot to do still.
"I am scared to death, it is really hard winning games in the Championship. It sounds better three from seven, but it is still very close. Too close for comfort.
"I'll be really surprised if there are not major issues to be resolved on the last day of the season."
Watford manager Malky Mackay: "I know we are down there with seven or eight teams and we have to make sure we pick up as many points as we can.
"We're definitely confident we can stay in the division."
