John Oster's last-minute goal kept up Doncaster's play-off charge to end Peterborough United's recent revival.
Posh missed several chances before going ahead early in the second half when Charlie Lee headed home a corner.
Rovers levelled 12 minutes later as a Craig Morgan clearance fell to Gareth Roberts, who smashed in a volley from the edge of the area.
In the 90th minute John Oster tapped home Billy Sharp's cross, securing three points for Doncaster.
Rovers, now unbeaten in five matches, are four points off a play-off slot.
Peterborough remain rock bottom and are running out of games to save their season.
Peterborough boss Jim Gannon: "The club is lucky to have two passionate football people in charge.
"I now have a good feel for the club. I haven't made a definitive decision yet, but things should be clearer in my mind in a couple of days.
"It was an easy decision to come here on a short-term basis but it will be a much more difficult one to make now."
Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll: "It was always going to be tough work with only two players above six feet tall against a team who excel in set-pieces and at long throws.
"But we stuck in there after going behind, continued to play our football and got the goal we deserved.
"Adding a winner at the end was a nice bonus. I'm really happy for John."
