Freddy Eastwood's fourth goal in two games helped Coventry to a narrow win over Plymouth that eases the Sky Blues away from the relegation zone.
The striker grabbed the only goal of the game when he headed home from six yards out from David Bell's cross.
Before that, Leon Best headed wide for Coventry, while Rory Fallon should have scored with a header at the other end.
Fallon was also denied late on as Plymouth fell to a fifth straight loss that has left them stuck in the mire.
Plymouth Argyle coach Paul Mariner:
"The board have told me the [transfer] embargo will be lifted.
"It's pretty obvious we need reinforcements. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it."
Coventry boss Chris Coleman: "It was very important for us to get back-to-back victories, especially as we have come to Plymouth and won in their back yard.
"They are in and around us in the league. You look at this fixture and it doesn't matter what time of the year it is, where they are in the league or where you are, it's always a hard game.
"Once or twice this season I have sat here and not been very giving about my players but I have got to say today I thought they were tremendous.
"We deserved the three points. Overall it was a great team performance and Freddy scored again."
