Quickfire goals from Graham Dorrans and Gonzalo Jara late in the first half earned West Bromwich Albion a valuable victory at Leicester.
Luke Moore had missed several chances by the time Dorrans' 37th-minute free kick evaded the wall and found the net.
Three minutes later it was two as Jara unleashed a 30-yard shot that bounced too awkwardly for keeper Chris Weale.
Bruno Berner stabbed home a late consolaton from close range, after Scott Carson had parried a free kick.
The win gives West Brom a four-point cushion above third-place Cardiff ahead of the international break.
Leicester will rue several wasted opportunities to turn the game around, particularly substitute Paul Gallacher's miss early in the second half, failing to properly connect with Matty Fryatt's low cross from just three yards out.
But, equally, Jara could have put the game beyond Leicester in the 72nd minute, after Weale spilled the ball when coming to the edge of his area to collect.
The Chilean's curling shot sailed over the unguarded goal and, moments later, Moore's lob over the advancing Weale hit the bar before being hooked clear.
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson: "It was a difficult day and did not get the rhythm back after going a goal down.
"It was disappointing but I have no real complaints about the result and pleased with the response of the players in the second half.
"We have got to be gracious that we were beaten by a better side. We have to make sure we assess our injuries, we have little breather now and need to prepare for our next game."
West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo: "We absolutely deserved to win. I think we did everything quite well. We defended well and we kept them very quiet.
"We attacked well, moved the ball around well and we controlled the game. We should have scored the third goal to put the game to bed.
"We didn't give them any space - it was a very good all-round performance."
