QPR 4-1 Reading

QPR continued their impressive surge up the Championship table as Reading were condemned to their third straight loss.

Rangers saw Ben Watson sent off for a second caution but took the lead when Akos Buzsaky curled home a set piece.

Jay Simpson volleyed a Wayne Routledge cross home and Ivar Ingimarsson felled Simpson for his second yellow card.

Rowan Vine then produced a near-post finish and Patrick Agyemang rounded Adam Federici to tap in, with Brian Howard grabbing a consolation.

Rangers have now scored 13 goals in their last three games at Loftus Road, while Reading have managed 11 all season and are now three points off the foot of the table.

The disgruntled travelling support treated manager Brendan Rodgers to a chorus of "you're getting sacked in the morning" and chanted former boss Steve Coppell's name.

Reading's nerves in front of goal were illustrated when Jimmy Kebe blasted high over the crossbar early on.

Rangers, by contrast, were brimming with confidence and Adel Taarabt's deft turn and shot forced a fine save from Federici.

The game exploded into life on the half-hour when Watson, already on a yellow card after a clumsy foul on Shane Long, was sent off by referee Andy Hall for taking a free-kick too quickly.

But the official appeared to have done Rangers a favour after the on-loan Wigan midfielder had trudged off, as Buzsaky stepped up to take the same free-kick and hit a superb curler into the corner.

The 10 men doubled their lead eight minutes later when Routledge floated in a deep cross which fooled Federici and allowed Simpson to volley home at the far post.

Reading came within inches of pulling one back at the break but Church thumped his free-kick against the woodwork.

Hall had little choice to dismiss Ingimarsson who was on a booking when he scythed down Simpson.

Substitute Vine squandered two gilt-edged chances in as many minutes and also had a goal disallowed for offside, but the striker eventually registered his first goal of the season with a cool strike.

And fellow sub Agyemang raced onto Gavin Mahon's pass and rounded Federici to break his duck this campaign.

Howard finally gave the away fans something to shout about, but that only prompted one Royals supporter to race onto the pitch towards home keeper Radek Cerny to round off a rotten evening for the visitors.

QPR manager Jim Magilton on Ben Watson's sending off and Brendan Rodgers' position:

"It was a poor sending-off. It's the letter of the law but common sense must prevail. We are all grown men.

"It (Rodgers' position) is horrendous. I've been there, and I was ninth in the table at the time.

"So I have a great deal of sympathy for him because you have to take the brunt of it, and you have to carry the can and he'll be up all night thinking about it."

Reading manager Brendan Rodgers:

"It was a tough night. I can understand the reaction. I've never experienced that but I've always been taught to fight. I'm not worried. Better managers than me have had that.

"It's not nice but can you blame them? We were poor. But it just makes me more determined.

"We've had a horrendous start. But what people maybe don't understand is it's a massive task here.

"My ambition at the beginning of the season was to be up there, but the reality is it's a very difficult job - all the best players have left.

"I want to give people a chance but I can't watch too much of that."
