Manager Paulo Sousa was sent to the stands as QPR's slim play-off hopes all but ended in an otherwise tepid game.
Sousa lost his cool in first-half stoppage-time, objecting to the tactics employed by Crystal Palace centre-half Claude Davis to stop Samuel Di Carmine.
Up until then chances had been few and far between.
But after that Di Carmine, Adel Taarabt and Wayne Routledge all went close for QPR while Victor Moses and Jose Fonte were unlucky not to score for Palace.
QPR manager Paulo Sousa on being sent to the stands:
"I can't understand when a manager is looking out for his player.
"I care about my players and I went to see him, and I am sent to the stands.
"I said nothing to the referee, I was going to see my player. I think it was because I went out of my area."
Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock:
"I told him [Paulo Sousa] to calm down a bit. And to be fair he didn't do much - he was concerned about his lad who had blood coming out of his nose.
"The pitch was not very good, the first job they should do is get a new one, no matter how many millions you spend on players.
"If we were a bit more clinical we might have finished it off but a draw was probably a fair result."
