Nottm Forest 0-1 Wolves

Leaders Wolves extended their lead at the top of the Championship thanks to Michael Kightly's second-half strike at struggling Nottingham Forest.

The England under-21 winger drilled home late in the game to leave Forest still in the bottom three.

Wolves' Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also had an effort cleared off the line.

They were the only two entertaining moments of a poor encounter that failed to produce a clear chance on goal until the final quarter.

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies:

"Our attitude and effort was first class and we probably deserved a point.

"It had 0-0 written all over it but we didn't do enough to create some chances but there are lots of positives.

"It was a fantastic effort from the players, I was proud of the way they responded to the last match."

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy:

"We're a million miles away (from promotion), let me tell you, but we've won this and we'll enjoy it.

"It's not been a great game, but it's just a matter of getting the points.

"We set off with an attacking team and we put substitutes on and we got the goal that mattered. It's a nice feeling to have time off now having won."
