Bristol City 1-1 Cardiff

Ross McCormack ended his eight-match goal drought to rescue a point for play-off chasing Cardiff City at rivals Bristol City in the Severnside derby.

The substitute striker pounced on an error from Adriano Basso, who failed to hold Eddie Johnson's 20-yard shot and McCormack squeezed it in.

Nicky Maynard had earlier ended his barren spell as he beat three Cardiff defenders to strike home from 20 yards.

Gabor Gyepes and Eddie Johnson hit the woodwork before Cardiff's late show.

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson said:
"There are a few disappointed players in our dressing room as we don't like being 1-0 up and losing a goal in the final two minutes.

"We gave away a couple of free-kicks which we should not have done as that put pressure on ourselves.

"It's really sickening to concede late on like that because I felt at 1-0 we had done enough to win the game."

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones said:
"It was a good point for us and I thought a draw was a fair result as we shaded the first-half in terms of chances and they shaded the second-half.

"Our goal was a bad goal to give away and I'm sure Gary will be saying the same about their goal.

"It is important to be back in the top six as we've been there for a long time now, we've got to keep digging deep and keep the players fresh."
