Preston 2-1 Coventry

Jon Parkin helped Preston maintain their promotion challenge as he claimed the winner against Coventry.

Coventry went ahead when Stephen Wright's cross-shot was tapped in from close range by Clinton Morrison.

But Preston took control and equalised when Sky Blues defender Ben Turner headed into his own net.

A Freddy Eastwood shot hit the post for Coventry before Parkin pounced on a loose ball, rounded keeper Keiren Westwood and slotted in the winner.

Preston manager Alan Irvine:
"The lads kept going and it was a good finish from Jon Parkin.

"There was a lot of composure, he timed his run well and when he got through he sat the goalkeeper down and went round him.

"It was a terrific goal and we showed great character to come back and we've done that a lot of times this season."

Coventry boss Chris Coleman:
"We have lost four games on the trot and all have come from individual errors.

"We've got to cut that out because if you keep doing that then you're going to lose games and that's what has happened today.

"In the first half we played some good stuff but in the second half Preston came on strong."
