Coventry 1-2 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United set a new club record of 12 away league games unbeaten with victory over rivals Coventry.

The Blades opened the scoring when Leigh Bromby's volley was judged to have crossed the line, although TV replays showed that it did not.

Visiting skipper Chris Morgan powered home a header from Brian Howard's free-kick to double his side's advantage.

Coventry hit back when Scott Dann nodded in Aron Gunnarsson's long throw but an equaliser proved elusive.

Coventry boss Chris Coleman on Sheffield United's opener:
"I can't tell you how angry I am.

"One, we defended it poorly. But two, the linesman has had an absolute horror show with the decision.

"I have seen it again and again and he isn't even in line with the ball and there are players in front of him so his view is obstructed.

"Unless he is 100% sure - 100% sure - that the ball is over the line he can't give that.

"And there is no way he is 100% sure and I'll tell you why - it is because the ball is not over the line.

"His feet are maybe just over the line but his hands are in front of the line.

"You only have to look at the reaction from the Sheffield United players - they are not expecting to get it. And look at the reaction from Westwood."

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell:
"I realised it was a record - 120 years old - but the win matters more.

"Coming to the form team, we knew it was going to be tough, but my lads rolled up their sleeves.

"It is about grinding results out in this league because it is the hardest league to get out of."
