Doncaster grabbed their second goal with less than 20 minutes remaining
Mark Wilson grabbed the winner as Doncaster came from behind to secure a valuable victory over Derby.
Robbie Savage gave Derby the lead shortly after half-time when his curling free-kick found the top corner.
But Paul Heffernan levelled matters for Doncaster, clinically heading in from a Wilson cross.
Wilson completed the turnaround when he found the net with a long-range effort that caught out Stephen Bywater for his first goal of the season.
Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll:
"We took some positives from the defeat to Swansea. We looked at Swansea and some of the things that they did and we thought we could do better in our game.
"We were nice and patient and moved it from side to side against a team that's come here to stifle the game.
"I thought our application was excellent. Even when we went a goal down, nobody's heads dropped, we just got on with it and cranked up the pressure a little bit."
Derby manager Nigel Clough:
"It's disappointing to go 1-0 up with 45 minutes to go and not get a minimum of a point but we conceded two poor goals from our point of view.
"You get the lead and think, 'hang onto it for five or 10 and frustrate them' but we weren't able to do that due to defensive errors."
"It's a harmless shot and Stephen misjudged the bounce, it's 25 yards or 30 yards out and nine times out of 10 he would have saved it."
