Cardiff 2-0 Nottm Forest

Paul Parry and Jay Bothrord celebrate Cardiff's second goal
Cardiff's goal-scorers Paul Parry and Jay Bothroyd celebrate another win

Cardiff City extended their unbeaten run to 13 games and consolidated their Championship play-off bid with a 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest.

Paul Parry put Cardiff in the lead, pouncing for his first goal in four months after Ross McCormack's 18th minute shot deflected into his path.

Forest, the Championship's other form team, tested Cardiff but City striker Jay Bothroyd sealed the win late on.

Bothroyd's 86th-minute individual strike was his eighth goal this season.

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones said: "It was a hard-earned battle but a well-earned three points.

"We don't count how many consecutive games we've won , our only concern was coming off the back of three really tough games in six days.

"The lads have a great will and tenacity about them which comes from winning games and keeping clean sheets.

"Jay has worked hard for his goal today and adds to his goal in midweek so he is full of confidence."

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies said: "We were leggy in the first-half but it is asking a lot of these young players to play this many games in such a short period of time.

"Their first-half goal came out of the blue and was scored from a deflection but we never looked energetic and certain players didn't compete.

"We dominated the second-half and credit to the players for some outstanding performances, we looked in control, created more chances and player much more desire.

"Great credit to Cardiff, we were playing against a side that has been together for three or four years and they have a vastly experienced squad."
