Goals from Gavin Williams and Michael McIndoe helped Bristol City cruise past Barnsley in the Championship.
Substitute Williams latched onto a clever through-ball from Cole Skuse and lifted his effort past Reds goalkeeper Heinz Muller to open the scoring.
The points were made safe when former Barnsley winger Michael McIndoe blasted in from the edge of the box after fine build-up play by Peter Styvar.
Barnsley's best effort was a long-range Bobby Hassell shot which hit the bar.
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson: "We're in good form and confidence is high so hopefully we can continue to make ground on the clubs above us.
"I knew this would be a game in which we needed to show patience because Barnsley were always going to get men behind the ball. They also have players who can break on you so it's dangerous to over-commit.
"By the closing stages we were dominating and everyone was looking comfortable on the ball."
Barnsley manager Simon Davey: "We had them under pressure and created some chances. We had a lot of possession and some good set pieces but we switched off. They changed it around in the middle of the park, we switched off and they scored a good goal.
"I was disappointed with the defending for their first goal. We then went straight down the other end and the keeper has pulled off a world class save and the ball has stayed out."
