Jay Bothroyd puts Cardiff City ahead against his former club

Promotion-chasing Cardiff extended their unbeaten run in the league to 10 after a dominant display at Coventry.

Former Sky Blue Jay Bothroyd put the Bluebirds ahead on 34 minutes stabbing home the rebound after keeper Keiren Westwood saved his initial header.

Ross McCormack doubled the lead just on the hour after Gavin Rae set him free to slot under the onrushing Westwood for his 16th goal of the season.

Freddy Eastwood had Coventry's best chance at 0-0 but saw his shot saved.

The win takes Cardiff up to fourth in the Championship with a game in hand over their rivals.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones: "How we didn't come in 5-0 at half time... unbelievable.

"We kept going in the second half and we upped the tempo.

"It was important to come here and get the three points, it had to be the three points because of what happened last night (results going Cardiff's way)."
