Striker Francis Jeffers scored his first goal in more than a year to help Sheffield Wednesday to an emphatic win over strugglers Charlton.

Darren Potter opened the scoring with a debut goal for the Owls when he drilled in a low shot into the corner.

Marcus Tudgay doubled the lead with a header before he found Jeffers who fired in from an acute angle.

Matthew Spring's 25-yarder reduced the deficit, before Tudgay scored from the spot after a foul by Grant Basey.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws:
"It's been a fantastic build-up with the new chairman coming in and now the whole culture is changing overnight.

"It's been done as well without any money being spent, just common sense and taking away the blockage.

"All the staff are now smiling and want to turn in everyday and enjoy it."

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson:
"It's not a case of lifting the players, it was more about telling them a few home truths.

"We were out fought and out played in every department. I'll try and stay positive, but today was simply not good enough.

"I'll get up tomorrow and be ready to go again although that's the most upset I've been in my managerial career."
