Cardiff consolidated fifth place in the Championship with a dominant home display over Sheffield Wednesday.
The Bluebirds dominated the first half but without making the breakthrough.
That changed minutes after half-time when Roger Johnson's strike took a wicked deflection off Richard Wood to spin past Owls goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Michael Chopra then made sure of all three points from the penalty spot after Sean McAllister brought down Bluebirds wing Joe Ledley in the box.

"We needed that bit of luck for Roger's (Johnson) goal to start us off, but after that we went for the kill.
"There are still a lot of points to play for and we are chasing down those teams still above us."
"Then they had a penalty and the judgement call from the officials must be spot-on.
"But the referee's assistant wasn't up to it today and should maybe pay a visit to Specsavers."
