Martin Paterson's second-half goal and one from substitute Steven Thompson secured victory for promotion chasing Burnley at Bristol City.
City had taken the lead from the spot after striker Stern John had been fouled by Clark Carlisle and Nicky Maynard converted for 1-0.
But Paterson equalised almost immediately for Burnley nodding home from close range to level.
Thompson won the game late on, firing a left-footed shot high into the net.
Bristol City manager Gary Johnson:
"We didn't defend well enough after taking the lead and that is becoming a bit
of a trait.
"It's a lack of concentration at times and the individuals concerned have been
told about it.
"We deserved to take the lead, but then allowed Burnley's flair players to get
into the game and hurt us. While they will think that they scored two good
goals, they were soft ones from our point of view.
"We badly need a win to turn things around and it's a case of continuing to
work hard to make that happen."
Burnley manager Owen Coyle:
"We are on a good run still, but the Championship is such a tight
league that if we switch off for a moment we will be punished.
"It was an even game until Bristol City took the lead and it would have been
easy for heads to drop at that point.
"But my group of players don't know when they are beaten. They are all
desperate to do well for the club and it showed again.
"We hit back to score two very good goals and could easily have had more. That
says everything about the character in the team."
