Bothroyd passed a fitness test to score his fifth goal of the season at Ipswich
Championship play-off chasers Cardiff won at Portman Road for the first time in 62 years as the Bluebirds beat ten-man Ipswich 2-1.
Jay Bothroyd gave Cardiff an early lead as he tapped in Paul Parry's cut back.
Chopra had an effort cleared off the line before Gabor Gyepes opened his Cardiff account from Parry's free-kick.
Jonathan Stead headed in Jon Walters' cross to give Ipswich hope but Ben Thatcher was dismissed for two yellow cards after fouls on Wayne Routledge.
Ipswich manager Jim Magilton said: "We were trying to build up a head of steam but it just didn't happen for us.
"We started brightly and had one or two good opportunities and they threw bodies on the line. But they didn't have to work too hard for their goals - we can't afford to give stupid goals away like that.
"I thought we would create more opportunities but we petered out and didn't have the same intensity as the other night. And with 10 men it was going to be even more difficult.
"We tried to stay positive with a 4-3-2 formation, hoping to exploit Danny Haynes' pace.
"I haven't spoken to the referee about Ben Thatcher's sending-off but I thought he got a bit of the ball for the first tackle. The second one was a bit silly."
Cardiff manager Dave Jones said: "We deserved the win because our goalkeeper Peter Enckelman didn't have a lot to do.
"In the first-half some of our football was exhilarating and in the second-half it was about getting the third and it wasn't for the want of trying.
"We took our foot off the gas, taking an extra touch and giving a sloppy goal away.
"In the second half we had to do it all again and we certainly would have made life a lot easier for ourselves if we'd scored a third goal."
