Burnley followed up their Carling Cup win over Arsenal by giving their promotion hopes a big boost with victory over rivals Sheffield United.
Martin Paterson tapped in to put the Clarets ahead, but James Beattie levelled from the spot after Billy Sharp had been felled by the keeper.
Graham Alexander restored the visitors' lead with a penalty after Chris Eagles went down under Gary Naysmith's foul.
And Eagles curled in the Clarets' third before Stephen Quinn's late reply.
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell: "There were one or two decisions that left a lot of people frustrated. I think many people questioned the two penalties but we're in the middle of a 'Respect' campaign so we respect it.
"We've also had a 'goal' ruled out for offside when it looks onside and you need those things to go for you in tight games. Between two tight teams, that can make the difference.
"It makes (automatic promotion) harder, of course it does, but we've got to keep going."
Burnley manager Owen Coyle: "There's no doubt about it, it's one of the best results of the season. It was certainly the most satisfying, given our exploits in the cup.
"Each and every player showed they could play. We knew Sheffield United would put us under pressure - they're a good side and they'll be in the shake-up at the end of the season.
"I'd be saying the same thing if we lost 4-3; that hunger, that desire, I couldn't be more pleased with them today. I really think that's one of our best performances and best results of the season."
